Hudson Valley artists sell their wares

Looking for great gifts, a prize to take away from a weekend trip or a piece for your mantle? Local gift and craft shops and markets feature the best local artists and craft makers.

Some Hudson Valley towns and cities cater specifically to the wealth of local artists who sell their wares. Beacon, Woodstock, Red Hook, Rhinebeck, Millbrook, Pleasant Valley, Pawling and Cold Spring all have a solid craft scene with many stores selling items designed and produced by locals.

From quilts to pottery, wallets to blanket, lamps to walking sticks, shoppers can find just about anything at local craft fairs and flea markets. Annual events like the Garrison Art Center's Arts and Crafts Fair, the Festival of Arts and Crafts in Pawling (end of September), the Hudson Valley Arts Festival in Poughkeepsie (September) and the Stormville Flea Market (weekends from spring to fall) is an opportunity for local and regional artists to sell to friends, family, visitors and collectors.
