Galleries and museums of the Hudson Valley

Known as much for its artists as it's known for rolling hills and picturesque scenery, the Hudson Valley serves as both a backdrop and venue to its many local artists.

Local galleries and museums hosts international, national and local shows and permanent collections including the works of Jackson Pollack and Willem DeKooning at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College. See some Museums in Greene County.

The Highland Cultural Center in Highland, Visual Field in Rhinebeck, Merritt Bookstore Gallery in Millbrook, the Garrison Art Center, Dia:Beacon, Marist College Art Gallery, Barrett House Galleries and School of Art, SUNY New Paltz campus gallery and a host of other artistic performance spaces and venues show the work of local and national photographers, painters, sketch artists, sculptors and environmental artists.

And local museums carry on the cultural and social traditions and history of the Hudson Valley. Museum highlights include the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston, the West Point Museum, the Olive Gunnison Natural History Museum, Katonah Museum of Art and Quaker Museum in Pawling, the Putnam County Historical Society Foundry School Museum in Cold Spring and the Senate House and Museum in Kingston.
