Wine connoisseurs can uncork some excitement when touring the Millbrook area.

Three popular wineries, all within 20 minutes of each other, surround Millbrook, making it a haven for wine lovers. However, the Clinton Vineyards (845-266-5372), Millbrook Vineyards (845-677-8383), and Cascade Mountain Vineyards (845-373-9021) are just a small part of Millbrook's treasured sites.

Antiques and crafts are a traditional part of Dutchess County's history and visitor appeal as well, and Millbrook boasts a few of its own. The Millbrook Antiques Mall (845-677-9311) has almost 40 shops under one roof, and the Millbrook Antique Center (845-677-3921) also provides multi-dealers, both attracting hoards of antique lovers.

For beautiful scenery, cliffs, low hills, waterfalls and streams, visit the Innisfree Garden on Tyrrel Road (845-677-8000). This 40-acre lake is a special way to spend a quiet afternoon.

Caring about and enjoying the scenery and the environment is important to area residents and that is evident by the number of environmental programs and facilities in the area. The Institute of Ecosystem Studies/Mary Flagler Cary Arboretum on Route 44A (845-677-5359) is more than 1,900 acres and features ecology programs, nature trails, greenhouses and other programs. Grab a basket and picnic on the grounds of the perennial garden.

If wildlife if more your style, The Trevor Zoo at the Millbrook School is a learning opportunity for adults and children. More than 100 animals, including 7 endangered species reside on this 4-acre site, which also includes a new environmental education center.

A unique architectural site in the Millbrook area that shouldn't be missed is Wing's Castle, Bangall Road (845-677-9085). This Hudson River stone castle was built by Peter and Toni Wing using salvaged materials from antique buildings. The castle with 7 towers and moat took more than 23 years to build.

The scenery and the peace and tranquility of this small-town picturesque community has attracted many celebrities to vacation or even reside in Millbrook. Popular motion picture actor Liam Neeson and multi-talented actress Mary Tyler Moore have taken permanent residence here.
